Dr Zhu grew up in Vancouver, completing his undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology at UBC. He then traveled across the world for his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in Sydney, Australia, before returning back to Canada. Here, he worked for two and a half years in rural northern BC, where he gained experience in all manner of complex treatment planning cases in a small community.

When he does have spare time, he prefers to spend it playing badminton, guitar, and kayaking.
